Coastsiders Will See Benefit from New Cable Fees
MID-COAST TELEVISION, INC. 525A Obispo Road P. O. Box 1750 El Granada, California 94018 April 4th 2006, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve the extension of the Comcast franchise, and to allocate to MCTV an amount equal to what County subscribers of Comcast will pay over the next 15 years in new surcharges under the franchise. In addition, the Supervisors voted to require an amendment to the Franchise side agreement to require Comcast to comply with the terms of the MCTV Access Agreement already in effect. Before the Franchise extension is signed, Comcast must accept this new language, and the President of the Board and County Counsel were designated to finalize the language with Comcast. These actions by the Board of Supervisors fulfill all the requests that MCTV made to the Supervisors. MCTV hopes that Comcast will quickly agree to the amendment. MCTV is very grateful to the Board of Supervisors for their strong support of community access. Equally important, MCTV would like to thank the Mid-Coast Community Council, HMB City Council, and all the other public agencies, MCTV members, sponsors and Coastside residents who wrote, or phoned, or spoke in support of MCTV's position. We know that this positive result would not have been possible without such an outpouring of community support and all of us at MCTV want to say thank you to everyone.
